The Story Behind Foil Scoot

A simple idea: add control. Unlock the feeling.

Benjamin Friant with Foilscoot

Benjamin Friant is a pioneer in action sports and a two-time European Freestyle Scooter Champion. Over nearly two decades, he competed worldwide, helped shape the discipline, and became a respected judge at the highest level, including almost every World Championship.

His drive quickly moved beyond competition into product development. As a key collaborator with Micro Mobility, the first freestyle scooter company, he led the brand’s freestyle direction and worked hands-on in designing and developing scooters for riders. That period built a clear philosophy: the best products make progression feel natural, safe, and exciting.

That mindset led to another breakthrough. Benjamin Friant invented the snow scooter, bringing the spirit of freestyle scootering into the mountains and making it possible to carve and ride snow parks with the same creative freedom. The concept was commercialized worldwide.

Years later, he discovered pumpfoiling and felt the same pull toward flow and progression, but he also saw the barrier. Pumpfoiling can be difficult to learn, intimidating to approach, and risky for many people. So he began experimenting again. One simple idea changed everything. He mounted a handlebar onto a board with a foil underneath. Despite having almost no foiling experience at the time, he managed to pump on his first attempt. The lesson was immediate. What most riders need first is control.

From that moment, Foil Scoot was born. A Pump Foil Scooter designed to make pumpfoiling easier to access, with a handlebar that adds stability and is designed to be easy to remove, allowing riders to transition into a more traditional pumpfoil setup when they are ready.

Foil Scoot is not just a product. It is an invitation to step into something that used to feel out of reach, to progress faster, to fall less, to smile more, and to experience that quiet moment when the board lifts and the water disappears beneath you. It is about turning intimidation into curiosity, and curiosity into freedom.
